i love them, and ive met some, in florida.
true, they swim in the shallows to keep warm , they are vegetarians, they have no enemies..i.e. no one wants to eat them, and they dont want to eat anyone else, only lettuce, and other vegetation.
their biggest threat is MAN in boats with choppy blades on their outboards, cutting them and damaging their little flippers! yes, its tragic, and they are dying out!!
i met the oldest manatee in captivity, called SNOOTY!!
